Websites are virtually essential to any business. Like electronic Yellow Pages, they tell your customers who you are, what you do, and where to find you.
But sometimes, you need more. You need special tools on your Website to help you do your business better.
Sane Web Systems can help you with your custom coding projects.
Here are some of the successful recent custom coding projects Sane Web Systems has completed:
The Issue
Nelson Literary Agency needed a way to electronically receive and organize submissions from prospective
authors. They were leery of using email due to attachment size constraints and potential viruses. They envisioned a customized electronic filing cabinet that could be accessed via a browser.
Their goal was to acquire a tool to help them work efficiently and paper free, even remotely.
The Solution
We developed a browser-based database application scripted in PHP that allowed prospective authors to upload sample pages to a MySQL database. The database featured several
custom password protected administrator views and functions to process the uploaded data. Multiple features, including configurable passwords and data validation, ensured
a high level of security for uploaded intellectual property. We matched the look and feel of Nelson Literary Agency's public Website, so writers would feel
comfortable using the submission mechanism. Now, Nelson Literary Agency can work more efficiently, even when on the road.
This database product is slated for rebranding and resale to another literary agency, 3 Seas Literary Agency, in the summer of 2008.
In the fall of 2007, SWS designed a Wiki tool for Nelson Literary Agency so that they could generate their highly formatted
monthly newsletter
on their own, without having to rely on a technical resource. The newsletter still looks great, and the time to create it has dropped by 75%, freeing up NLA staff
to concentrate on helping authors realize their dreams.

The Issue
Our own graphic design strategic partner,
Visual Impact Marketing, needed updates to their Flash Website to improve navigation
and usability in their online portfolio of work. They had new designs to showcase, and an entirely new section of the gallery to add. Moreover, they were unhappy with their navigation scheme, which
required users to click each time they wanted to proceed to the next design image.
The Solution
Visual Impact Marketing's site was developed entirely using Macromedia Flash. We changed text to better reflect their growing business. We added a new section to the gallery. We implemented a new navigation scheme in the gallery so that users
of the site would see thumbnail images of all designs in a category at the same time, and enabled them to choose the ones they wanted to see a larger view of with a simple click. Now, Visual Impact Marketing
has a technical staff at their disposal to showcase the designs they work so hard to visually promote.

The Issue
Airchitex, a provider of custom embedded systems, needed a shopping cart on their existing Website to allow customers to
complete secure, self-serve credit card purchases. Prior to this shopping cart integration, customers wishing to purchase their
Cuckoo network NTP time server had to email or call with their interest, and wait for a callback so that a representative could take their credit card information.
The Solution
We researched the staggering number of shopping cart solutions available. We developed a short list for Airchitex staff to review.
We worked with them in the integration of the product we finally selected,
Dansie Cart, using a CGI scripting implementation. Now, Airchitex can receive secure credit card orders 24 hours a day, putting
their customers in control.
In addition, we helped Airchitex add DHTML and JavaScript to their embedded product's internal Website to automate and simplify data entry.
